Occupation: Black Organization Executive Member
Location: Unknown
First Appearance: Chapter 001 -
Gin, this name has been carved into the head of every DC fan from the very first chapter of the series. The name of the cold-blooded, sharp-minded, long-haired killer who always wear a big black coat and a black hat. The one whose Porsche 356A has become a signature. The one who drugged Shinichi with the mysterious drug, made him shrink and thus resulting in the never ending stories of Detective Conan. His identity is a mystery, his past has never been revealed and the number of his victim seems to increase everyday. Through 689 chapters, what we know from him is little, but still, it's better than nothing.
One of the most mysterious fact about Gin is his relationship with Sherry (a.k.a Haibara a.k.a Shiho). When Sherry first appeared, we readers know that she always has to hide from the B.O's grasp, particularly Gin's (it seems that Gin is the only member who is assigned to look for Sherry), otherwise she will be executed for having betrayed the Organization. We all thought that right at the moment Gin encounters Sherry again, he will give her a precise, cold shot like he did with his other victims. But the truth is not like that.
Chapter 242 surely shows us that Gin's relationship with Sherry is not normal. He knows Sherry was hiding in the chimney, climbing up to the roof but he didn't kill her right away. When Gin confronts Sherry on the roof, it seems that he couldn't just shot one bullet into her head. Was it because he was playing with Sherry? Was it because he wanted to give Sherry a pleasant death as a gift of causing him so much hard time finding? Or was it because...his heart prevented him from shooting her? Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention Gin knows about Sherry's favourite color (blood + snow).
Right, it seems that I've gone too far there. The reason behind the purposely-missed shots is still a mystery and Gin has never seen any trace of Sherry since that snowy night so we readers couldn't get anymore information about this fact. Seems that Goushou intends to reveal this big secret at the very end of DC...

Gin and Sherry, could there be anything special between them?...
Right, besides Sherry, it seems that Gin has "another girl". It's Vermouth! She mentioned it in chapter 287, didn't she? "Want to make some Martini tonight?". Well because Martini is a cocktail made from Gin mixed with Vermouth, it seems that...yeah you all know what she means. And from what she said we can feel that she did this "mixing" not only once, so yeah, it's either Gin has a crush on Vermouth or that "mixie thingie" is just a daily activity that every mafia does everyday...
Apart from Vermouth, there is one more person who has a pretty close relationship with Gin. Yes, it's none other than our FBI agent Akai Shuuichi. In chapter 327, Akai mentioned something about his "koibito" and about some "tears of blood". At that time we readers couldn't fully understand what he said yet, but then, in chapter 504, Shuu officially refers the "koibito" that he said earlier was Gin - his "beloved enemy" and that he will make his "koibito" shed the blood tears. Yeah, Akai really has a big grudge against Gin, huh? Well of course, after all it's Gin who killed Akemi Miyano, who happens to be Akai's lover. It's a pity that Akai couldn't live long enough to revenge for his beloved Akemi, though (or could he? there aren't any confirmation of Akai's death yet, right?). It seems that if Goushou really tends to allows Shuu to survive from that assassination at Raiha mountain pass, Gin will have to confront Akai in the last battle of DC. Guess we'll have to wait until it comes though...

Can Gin and his deadly smile defeat Akai in the final battle...if there's one?
The story of Gin hasn't completed yet. His secrets still remain out there. I'll continue writing about them on another day. But now, to conclude, I have to say Gin is such a bad-ass villain that even Shinichi has never successfully tricked him once. He is no easy enemy and the B.O should be proud for having him, a killer who will become the worst nightmare of whoever encounters him.
This is such an amazing review of Gin! :) He's my all-time favorite manga character ever!
