Detective Conan - Gin

Gin

Occupation: Black Organization Executive Member

Location: Unknown

First Appearance: Chapter 001 -

Gin, this name has been carved into the head of every DC fan from the very first chapter of the series. The name of the cold-blooded, sharp-minded, long-haired killer who always wear a big black coat and a black hat. The one whose Porsche 356A has become a signature. The one who drugged Shinichi with the mysterious drug, made him shrink and thus resulting in the never ending stories of Detective Conan. His identity is a mystery, his past has never been revealed and the number of his victim seems to increase everyday. Through 689 chapters, what we know from him is little, but still, it's better than nothing.

One of the most mysterious fact about Gin is his relationship with Sherry (a.k.a Haibara a.k.a Shiho). When Sherry first appeared, we readers know that she always has to hide from the B.O's grasp, particularly Gin's (it seems that Gin is the only member who is assigned to look for Sherry), otherwise she will be executed for having betrayed the Organization. We all thought that right at the moment Gin encounters Sherry again, he will give her a precise, cold shot like he did with his other victims. But the truth is not like that.

Chapter 242 surely shows us that Gin's relationship with Sherry is not normal. He knows Sherry was hiding in the chimney, climbing up to the roof but he didn't kill her right away. When Gin confronts Sherry on the roof, it seems that he couldn't just shot one bullet into her head. Was it because he was playing with Sherry? Was it because he wanted to give Sherry a pleasant death as a gift of causing him so much hard time finding? Or was it because...his heart prevented him from shooting her? Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention Gin knows about Sherry's favourite color (blood + snow).

Right, it seems that I've gone too far there. The reason behind the purposely-missed shots is still a mystery and Gin has never seen any trace of Sherry since that snowy night so we readers couldn't get anymore information about this fact. Seems that Goushou intends to reveal this big secret at the very end of DC...

Gin and Sherry, could there be anything special between them?...

Right, besides Sherry, it seems that Gin has "another girl". It's Vermouth! She mentioned it in chapter 287, didn't she? "Want to make some Martini tonight?". Well because Martini is a cocktail made from Gin mixed with Vermouth, it seems that...yeah you all know what she means. And from what she said we can feel that she did this "mixing" not only once, so yeah, it's either Gin has a crush on Vermouth or that "mixie thingie" is just a daily activity that every mafia does everyday...

Apart from Vermouth, there is one more person who has a pretty close relationship with Gin. Yes, it's none other than our FBI agent Akai Shuuichi. In chapter 327, Akai mentioned something about his "koibito" and about some "tears of blood". At that time we readers couldn't fully understand what he said yet, but then, in chapter 504, Shuu officially refers the "koibito" that he said earlier was Gin - his "beloved enemy" and that he will make his "koibito" shed the blood tears. Yeah, Akai really has a big grudge against Gin, huh? Well of course, after all it's Gin who killed Akemi Miyano, who happens to be Akai's lover. It's a pity that Akai couldn't live long enough to revenge for his beloved Akemi, though (or could he? there aren't any confirmation of Akai's death yet, right?). It seems that if Goushou really tends to allows Shuu to survive from that assassination at Raiha mountain pass, Gin will have to confront Akai in the last battle of DC. Guess we'll have to wait until it comes though...

Can Gin and his deadly smile defeat Akai in the final battle...if there's one?

The story of Gin hasn't completed yet. His secrets still remain out there. I'll continue writing about them on another day. But now, to conclude, I have to say Gin is such a bad-ass villain that even Shinichi has never successfully tricked him once. He is no easy enemy and the B.O should be proud for having him, a killer who will become the worst nightmare of whoever encounters him.

Detective Conan - Akai Shuuichi

Akai Shuuichi

Occupation: FBI agent

Location: Unknown

First Appearance: Chapter 287 - The Invisible Fear

Akai Shuuichi, a bad-ass FBI agent, was shot in the head and presumed deceased since chapter 609. Yes, DC's fan all over the world were totally shocked with this news. Did he really die, that super cool guy? Or was it just a fake death successfully drawn by the talented hands of Goushou Aoyama? We don't really know...

Ok, let's dig this thing up. First thing first, during the night before the B.O member Kir (or should I say the CIA agent Hidemi Hondou) was released, there was a long night-talk, wasn't it? The contents of the talk have been shown by Goushou not long after that. But what if there were something in that night, something that only Akai, Conan, Kir and Goushou knows and haven't tell us yet? After the conversation about the big bad release plan, those four surely thought about what would happen after Kir was sent back to the B.O. With such intelligent brains, they probably anticipated the possibility that Kir will have to do something to gain the B.O's trust, and that something is likely to be the assassination of Akai! Yes! If they had anticipated that, then the death of Akai at Raiha falls is possibly A FAKE ONE and had been planned beforehand.

Yeah, that's one possiblity. But if it's the case then, how the hell did Akai survive? We all see the gun shot, no the TWO gun shots that were driven into Akai's body (one of them was a headshot). Also there was blood, splattered, everywhere. Finally to conclude everything a bomb blew up Shuu's big bad black Chevrolet. We all saw those things, they happened right in front of our eyes. There's no way Akai could escape from that case, unless he's some kind of superhero...

The thing is, there are sooo many discussions around Shuu's death, but it seems that Goushou gave us too few evidences and hence no perfect conclusion could be drawn. Firstly, the "Raiha mountain pass" somehow reminds Holmes' fans about "Reihenbach falls" where Holmes fakes his death. Yes, as a fan of Holmes, Goushou probably did let Akai fake his death there. Shuu somehow had managed to jump off the safe fence and down to the cliff (we couldn't see what's under the cliff though, but I hope it's water) and escaped Gin's grasp, leaving a burning body of someone.

Could it be...Akai faked his death?

So, the problem is. How did he manage to trick Gin (and Vodka) and whose body were there? There are theories which think that the bullets Kir shot were probably blank. We know that blank bullets cause no real harm at far distance, but when shot at close range, they are still dangerous. So there might be something inside Akai's knitted hat that prevented the bullet from damaging him (yeah, that's explains why he always wears that hat). The blood is probably fake, too. As an FBI agent Shuu will have no problem acquiring those typical movie equipment things. The bomb, although the number 3 was shown, it doesn't mean that the bomb was set to blown up after 3 seconds. It just means that Goushou showed us the bomb when the number 3 came up and the real detonate time was never known. During that time Shuu probably had done some smart moves and escaped.

And the body? Whose was it? Most likely it was Kusuda Rikumichi, the fake patient who suicided not long ago. This explains the fingerprints found on Conan's phone (Kusuda touched his phone, didn't he?). So that means during the time of the detonation, while Gin was preparing to high-tail, Akai placed Kusuda's body in his place and escaped secretly.

That's just a theory and there are no evidence for it, until chapter 677. A man looked like Shuu (with a large burnt mark on the right of his head) appeared and surely did confuse Jodie and we readers. And if Goushou didn't show this guy shot the robber by his RIGHT HAND, we could've all believed that Akai had returned. Now that we know that he's not Akai, then who is he? Most likely it's Vermouth in disguise. The B.O, being a sceptic organization, sent Vermouth out to investigate whether Akai had really died. Well, this explains the gun shot right? We all know Vermouth owes Shinichi her life so it's normal to see her save our great detective. Too bad Jodie doesn't have such special feelings like Ran with Shinichi so she couldn't realize that he's a fake...

Where have our talented sniper gone?

Akai's Shuuichi's real fate has remained as one of the biggest question in DC up until now. True, it is cruel to let such a man die at this early, but if Goushou really intended to carve something special about Akai in readers' mind, it's better to leave him deceased. The answer? You'll have to wait until the end of DC, I'm afraid.

Dectective Conan - Okiya Subaru

Okiya Subaru

Occupation: Faculty of Engineering's Graduate Student at Totou University

Location: Boarding at Shinichi's house

First Appearance: Chapter 622 - Red, White and Yellow

Ok, so far we all know that this guy not a normal student. He has an incredibly good deduction skill that can even match with Shinichi's, a keen mind that allows him to act agilely with unexpected situations and a quick, strong hand. Also, Haibara can sense the "B.O Smell" from him, which probably means this Okiya is none other than the newly mentioned agent "Bourbon". Things seem to get more straight when Goushou shows us a scene of Okiya drink Bourbon at the end of chapter 640. Of course drinking Bourbon doesn't mean you are Bourbon, and Haibara's "B.O Smell" doesn't appear all the time, so the answer of the question whether this Okiya is the new B.O agent or not is still in a fog.

There are other theories which believe Okiya to be Akai Shuuichi in disguise. Yeah, there is some reasons for that after all. Like, this guy appears not long after Akai's "death", he is left-handed (like Shuu), he is clever (like Shuu) and he has an aura that can even cause our sceptic Shinichi to lend the house for him (or is it because Shinichi finally found a true Holmes fan?). This theory also explains the mysterious grin of Conan at the end of chapter 621, when Eisuke warned Conan about "something" happened in the FBI. Yeah, Conan knew Akai is still alive and is currently disguising as a "Holmes fan". "Everything's all right" huh?

However the Okiya = Akai theory has some holes. Firstly the eyes of these two are completely different, one are piggy and one are big, which means Akai might have trouble when seeing through those Okiya's eyes and couldn't possibly notice "things that ordinary eyes couldn't". Secondly the fact that Conan doesn't want Okiya to know much about Shinichi has proven that Conan doesn't trust Okiya at all and that Okiya is, may be, not Akai. Thirdly, Akai's clever somehow seems to be diffirent with Okiya's. This glasses guy talks like a detective while Shuu has the voice of an intelligent agent. Yes, they ARE different.

Okiya drinking Bourbon? Could he be...

Mysterious Subaru only appears in 3 cases until now so there's nothing certain yet. He could be Bourbon, he could also be Akai, he could even be a new CIA or FBI agent. For me, I still prefer the fact that he's a B.O member, which will even the battle between the Organization and the "good guys", but yes, it's still a theory. The only thing we know now is that he is no ordinary person and has big relevance with DC's main plot. Guess time will show us the answer, sooner or later.

Starcraft II

Every gamers in this world, whether he/she is playing real-time stragtegy games (RTS) or not, must has heard about the Starcraft franchise. It was first released by Blizzard Entertainment in 1998 and achieved incredible approval from gamers. Now, in 2008, which means 11 years later, people still play Starcraft, not just at home, but also in big game competitions (World Cyber Games, etc.) because of its well-balanced gameplay.

And now, the big cheese in the game industry is planning to develop this dominant franchise. Starcaft II was announced in 2006 and since then has made millions of gamers in the world fluttered. When will Blizzard blow up this bomb? We'll have to sit back and wait.
